Happy Friday, Trackheads!

The professional outdoor season is well underway, but there are still a few major stars who have yet to make their 2025 debuts, like Sha’Carri Richardson. Well, Sha’Carri fans… the wait is almost over. The 2023 100m World champion and 2024 Olympic silver medalist will line up in Japan at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix. Additionally, several big name Adidas athletes are also opening up their seasons this weekend at the Atlanta City Games.

On Saturday, Adidas will host this “street meet” as a showcase for the brand and the local community in Atlanta's Piedmont Park, where athletes will compete along a temporary straight away rather than a traditional stadium setup. And while it is a little unconventional, it will be no less competitive when you consider who will be there.

This lineup is full of world-class talent, so if you’re collecting data for that “who’s the fastest in the world” spreadsheet you’ve been bashfully working on during your lunch breaks, you’ll want to catch the matchups here. Jamaica’s Oblique Seville will face off against South Africa’s Akani Simbine in the 100m. Simbine will be looking to keep the ball rolling after his hot start to the outdoor campaign, and most recently, his gold medal-winning anchor 4x100m performance at World Relays.

Olympic Gold Medalist Noah Lyles was slated to run the 150m but is no longer listed on the entry list. 400 world record holder Wayde Van Niekerk will look to challenge Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes in the men’s 200m.

The women’s 100m hurdles field will surely turn the heat up a notch and add a layer of unpredictability to the weekend, as is always the case with this event right now. World record holder Tobi Amusan will face off against Tia Jones (fresh off running the second-fastest time in U.S. history) and Tokyo Olympic medalist Megan Tapper. But you could just as easily see a young star like Grace Stark or Ackera Nugent emerge victorious. Anna Hall, twice a medalist in the heptathlon at Worlds, will also line up for the 100m hurdles, in addition to contesting the long jump.

How to watch: Saturday’s professional races will be streamed on Peacock from 3-4 p.m. ET. This block will also be televised on NBC. There will be a free livestream of the rest of the meet on Adidas’s Youtube channel from 1:30 pm-3:00 pm EST.

Seiko Golden Grand Prix

If you’re down for some late-night track, get the coffee pot up and running for the Seiko Golden Grand Prix, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series.

Sha’Carri Richardson is entered in the 100m, which will be her first race since the Diamond League Final in Brussels last year. Her training partner TeeTee Terry is also entered in the race, after competing at World Relays last weekend.

2019 World 100m champion Christian Coleman is up against Andre de Grasse (Olympic bronze medalist in the event in Tokyo) and Christian Miller (American U20 record-holder, and still just 19 years old) in the men’s 100m. In the field events, Yaroslava Mahuchikh will compete in the high jump and JuVaughn Harrison will headline the long jump.

How to watch: This meet will be streamed on FloTrack with a subscription, and won’t start until 11:50 PM EST.

One Good Song For Your Weekend

I recently saw the film Sinners and it rocked. This was my favorite track and scene from the film. You should go see it in a theater if you can. Don’t just take my word for it: Sha’Carri and Noah both liked it, too!
